My name is Theresa and I’ve tried to live my life as a playfull human.
Remember when you were a kid and you went out to play. Playing was everything. Playing was what life was about. It’s what you wanted to do after school and on the weekends and all summer. Play is that feeling when you are having so much fun that you don’t want it to end. It almost hurt when it ended and you had to say goodbye or come in for dinner. A little bitter…but always sweet.
Then, at some point, many of us stopped playing. We work. We strive. We buy things. We stress out. We wonder if we are enough. Successful enough, beautiful enough, smart enough, strong enough. We feel like we need to be better parents, siblings, spouses, employees and friends. We are constantly in our heads caught up in what’s next.
My goal is to help you press the pause button for a few minutes. To stop stop worrying quite so much, and start playing a little bit more. The science is out there. Google it. Adults need to play. So…
I have some ideas for you. Maybe they aren’t all up your alley. But, find something that speaks to you. Or even if it doesn’t, step out of your comfort zone and do it anyway. It’s good for you. Because when we play…we smile, we laugh, we connect with others, we stop the buzzing for a moment and can feel lightness in the world again. Maybe we even feel some joy and peace. Let play be the fuel that keeps you doing all those wonderful things that you spend your time doing. Also, if you join me…you can call yourself a player. (Get it? Don’t worry, my jokes aren’t always this bad.)
